faqs

do any asian paints paint offer protection against termites?

Yes. If entire furniture is coated with Wood Finish, it is difficult for the termites to attack the surface.

what paints can be used on the surface where there is already an attack of termites?

If the termites have already infected the furniture, you will have to treat the furniture for termites, with the solutions easily available in the market, e.g. Termiguard. No Wood Finish is Termite proof.

what is the difference between solvent-based and water-based paints?

Water-based paints are diluted with water, while solvent-based paints are diluted with solvents like Mineral Turpentine Oil (MTO). Emulsions are water-based paints while enamels, lustre and matt finishes are solvent-based paints.

Emulsions look better on walls and are ideal for drawing rooms. Solvent-based paints are ideally suited for kitchens and bathrooms since they are water-resistant. Enamels are used on wood and Metals.

how quickly does the paint dry?

Duration of painting depends on the number of rooms you plan to paint and how many painters are working. Paint drying time for emulsion is 4 hours minimum, though 6 to 8 hours is preferred. Distemper takes 6 to 8 hours, while enamel, primer, lustre and matt finish requires 8 to 10 hours. Wood finishes takes 2 to 3 hours.

what is the difference between exterior pu and interior pu?

Exterior PU  has UV Guards which help against UV rays, also, wood in exterior tends to expand and contract more as compared to Interiors – Hence Exterior PU is flexible enough to not crack. Interiors on the other hand requires to be stronger in other properties like:

1) Scratch resistance

2) Stain resistance

3) Heat resistance, etc

These properties and stronger in case of Interior PU.
